Our Story
Nick Koulouris opened Grecian Gyro in 1982 with $50 in his pocket, a dream in his heart, and his secret sauce recipe locked tightly in his head.
Nick's first Grecian Gyro restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia became the city's home for high-quality, quick-serve, fresh Greek food. Before he knew it, Nick's restaurant was an Atlanta favorite. For over 40 years, Grecian Gyro has gained the reputation of "Atlanta's Best Gyro," winning the coveted honor from Atlanta Magazine and its readers. What keeps customers coming back? Regulars tell us it's a toss-up between the "delicious food!" the "fun Greek family feel" and the "secret sauce that's to die for!"
In 2007 and 2008, Nick's sons, George and Pano, expanded the company and opened locations in Tucker and Forest Park. It was a natural fit; after all, the two young men had been working for Grecian Gyro ever since they were old enough to reach the napkin dispensers. More and more customers throughout the city were enjoying Grecian Gyro's great dishes, from classic Greek and Mediterranean sides to authentic vegetarian favorites to the ultimate gyro wrap. Since then the brothers have responded to years of customer requests for more locations around the city with restaurants in Johns Creek, Snellville, and midtown Atlanta. As they look towards the future, the Koulouris brothers hope to continue expanding upon their father's dream while delivering the same delicious gyros Nick made on day one.
